Narrating her JunebyTife makeup business journey, the 19-year-old Medical Laboratory Science undergraduate, Osaruguemwen Asemota revealed that she started in April 2018 as a result of her passion for making people look good.

In her words, “I have always liked making people look good. The smile on their faces after their makeup session and they see themselves in the mirror is usually priceless. So, I decided to turn my passion into a business”

Speaking on the factor that motivated her to set up the business, she explained that her love for makeup was part of it, adding that the idea that she could make her own money from something she loved to do was a major motivation.

When asked how much was her initial capital and how it was raised, “I wouldn’t say I had a definite amount set aside as capital. But I remember that my Dad gave me N30, 000 to get something for my kit. From then, I started using my monthly allowance to support the business.’’

Commenting on the challenges faced in the business, the young entrepreneur maintained that makeup business is seasonal and not getting clients over a long period of time is part of the challenges.

She also pointed that some customers want quality but will not pay for such, while others would offer ridiculous prices despite a fixed rate.

On sourcing clients for patronage, Asemota stressed how social media has been of great help in finding customers.

She noted that majority of her customers come from social media and also through existing customers also bring customers in.
