The Creative Young Entrepreneur Award was launched in 2021 to challenge young entrepreneurs to use imagination and creativity in building profitable and sustainable businesses, enterprises and encouraging young entrepreneurs and business owners.
The second edition of the entrepreneur award is slated for Saturday, 11th of June 2022 at the D’Podium International Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos.
Speaking on the award initiative, Creative Young Entrepreneur Chair (CYE), Idara Michael explained that the initiative is about recognizing top 10 applicants as role models for their contribution to the society and their innovative approach to business in tackling salient economic issues in Nigeria.
The inaugural awards edition recipients explained the importance of winning the award and recognition with positive influence on their careers and entrepreneurial accomplishment.
According to one of the recipients of the award last year, Stephen Obe said that being one of the award recipients in 2001 last year gave him access to incredible funding opportunities, connections within the JCI community and beyond.
Obe explained that what made the award memorable for him was witnessing the incredible and remarkable work other awardees were doing. “I realized I was among the elite, which was an inspiring moment for myself and my team”
He urged anyone who gets the next awards to be proud of themselves for obtaining such a prestigious award, as it takes a lot of hard work to accomplish it.
“I would encourage them to take advantage of this opportunity to grow their network and gain more access to future prospects,”, he said.
For Anthony Ogbodo, another recipient who won the award last year, he said the entrepreneurial award inspired and raised his hunger and desire to do more with his shoe making business and he’s willing to teach and empower more young people on the act of shoe making.
The Creative Young Entrepreneur award entry processes involved an online application form and from those entries a panel of experts drawn from within the local economic and entrepreneurial community selected 10 finalists to move onward to the International Competition representing Nigeria.
The ceremony will start with a pitch competition and will have notable dignitaries that will also attend the event
405 applications were received for the pitch competition, 30 top applicants will pitch their ideas and 10 of them will be honoured during the event.
