The Junior Chamber International Ikeja’s Quality Leadership Values Seminar reached new heights this year with the esteemed presence of Kemi Ogunkoya, a globally recognised Leadership Development Strategist and Management Consultant.

The leadership seminar is held annually to nurture leadership qualities in individuals and featured Kemi Ogunkoya as the keynote speaker, addressing the theme “Evolving Leadership: Dynamics, Challenges, and Prospects.”

The event also aimed to instill crucial leadership qualities in attendees, motivating them to contribute significantly to the growth and development of their communities and the nation.

In her keynote, Ogunkoya said that the dynamics of leadership have shifted from traditional paradigms to a fluid and adaptable model, adding that leaders are faced with the imperative of navigating an ever-changing landscape while staying attuned to emerging technologies, shifting socio-economic trends, and the evolving expectations of diverse stakeholders.

Amidst these shifts, she pointed out that there are challenges that demand innovative solutions. “From the complexities of a globalized world to the ethical dilemmas inherent in rapid technological advancement, leaders find themselves grappling with new and often uncharted territory,” she explained.

In her opening remarks, the Local Organization President of JCI Ikeja, JCIN Amb. Oyebola Olafasakin, highlighted the evolving nature of leadership in her address.

The President, Junior Chamber International Ikeja, JCIN Amb. Oyebola Olafasaki said at the event that everyone has the capacity to lead because each person influences someone at one point or the other.

“Good leadership is not only the responsibility of individuals in government; rather everyone is a leader in one capacity or the other, influencing people and the society as a whole.

“If and when we get it right in our individual niches we would get it right as a nation. So, it is essential to equip ourselves with the right and necessary skills for effective leadership.

QLV Chairperson, Adeola Akinade,  emphasized the importance of personal development as a foundation for effective leadership. 

She expressed, “At JCI Ikeja, we firmly believe in the significance of individual development as a key to self-awareness, self-esteem, and skills enhancement. Through self-leadership, we aspire to assist each participant in becoming a better version of themselves, both personally and professionally.”

She stated, “Leadership is not static; it evolves with time and adapts to new challenges. Our seminar’s theme reflects the dynamic nature of leadership and the myriad of possibilities it presents.”

The event boasted a panel of distinguished guests who contributed their expertise and insights to the discussion. Segun Adeniyi, the Chief Digital Officer for Wema Bank; Aminat Jegede, Associate Director in the Tax, Regulatory and People Services Division of KPMG Advisory Services; and JCI Senator Pascal Dike, the 2016 JCI World President, shared their perspectives on the dynamics, challenges, and prospects of evolving leadership.
